In Santa’s workshop

Foto-2008When I tried to do some x-mas shopping today, my bank card wouldn’t allow any withdrawals. I got the hint and went home. I have plenty of ideas and patterns and a fabric stash that is plentiful to say the least.

Time to start working.

Thimble

Foto-1976

When i was 15, my grandmother, who was an antiques dealer, gave me this silver thimble. At the time I didn’t think much of it, and as years have past I would wonder why a thimble would have to be fancy anyways. I kept it, but since I always dreaded hand sewing never really used it much.

Now when i’m caught in the ebroidery addiction, I’ve come to realize how much nicer this thimble is compared to the cheap ones I have plenty of. It’s feels much better on my finger, I now use it every sewing day and get to think of Grandma Anna-Lisa as a bonus.

Checkers and stripes

I’m making these pants on commission. After making the muslin she’s to try on I decided I like the pants so much I’ll make a pair for myselt.

In my stash was a wool that was perfect, as I was about to cut it I realizes it’s checkered on one side and striped on the other. Which to use? I think I like the checkers a little bit more, but the striped side is shinier. On the other side, the non shiny side is perhaps a tiny bit itchy?

Now I’m lost in indesicion. I’ll zig zag the parts at least, and hope I come to a conclusion.

‘Tis the time of the year…

…when I start making lots of trunks. If you want to make your own x-mas gifts and is looking for something not too difficult but very appreciated. look no further.Foto-1987 I’ve made lots of comox trunks, and had lots of praise. You buy the pattern here (it’s not mine, not connected to me in any way, I just like it).

I’ve got plans to change the pattern and take away the baggy front to fit me as well, will let you know how that goes.

Caped. Shortly. In the dark.

Foto-1981Foto-1980

I put the cape on yesterday afternoon. It was a bit tight over the shoulders, the holes were meant for her hands to stick out, not the shoulders , so it looks a bit more like a dress than a cape. The dark falls early in Stockholm in the fall, so the pictures aren’t great. When I came back to take some better ones at noon today, the cape was already gone. Feels a bit sad actually. This time I signed my creation, though, so maybe I’ll get some feedback from the person who took it.Foto-1977

Time and again

Foto-1973It really IS time to start working on Christmas presents. It really is, but it’s so hard to stop doing this

Send in the clowns

Foto-1969Last night I finished a scarf that I started earlier this summer. Not sure if I’ll keep it or if it should be a christmas present for  someone
