Words of wisdom

Foto-2029One of my nieces wanted words of wisdom to put on her wall, for Christmas

Since we’re both dancers I wanted something dance related and decided to use this great quote. Don’t know who said it, but I read it as a recomendation to see whatever happens to you as part of your life, and rather than cursing your mistakes,  to build something new and unexpected from them.

Also I dislike perfection, in art (as in life in general) I want improvisation and evolution, which this quote encourages.

I choose tou use the word “when” instead of “if” because accidents will happen to all of us, better be prepared.

The design is mine, and I ‘m particularly fond of the E connectiong the two words stumble and dance. I used cross stitches for the black letters, and back stitch as well as basting stitches for the red and green.

I dream of Kitty

This christmas, I’m giving away 10 me-made things. 5 are finished (more or less), 3 under way and two not even started. Since the gifts are to be opened on christmas eve and I’ll be travelling the 23d, well…I’ve for quite a long time now realized that I’ll have to give away things under construction and finish them afterwards.

I found this Hello Kitty sheet in a thrift store, thinking I’d make a shirt out of it. Then I realized I could ask the reciever if they wanted the sheet the way it is, or a shirt. Thereby hiding an 11th not started gift in a finished one. I’m so clever.

Pants! Again!

I’ve made thes awesome pants for a client, she’s a bit shorter than I, otherwise we have the same measurements.

They’re made from this pattern, a reprinted original from the 1940’s,12209460_10153389266518580_1770048349_o but she wanted them a little less baggy.

Now it’s back to making Christmas presents, then I think I’ll make a pair for myself

Thread trouble

Foto-2011Hm. That reflective thread really isn’t very easy to do embroidery with. This is an attempt for a Doctor Who phone both that I’ve crocheted. The plan was to make the windows in reflective thread, so the receiver can hang it from their bag and be seen in the dark. But as you can see its all messy. The thread is coarse and gets stuck in the yarn. I’ll head into town to see if I can find either thinner thread, or thread mixed with yarn.

Reflections

Foto-2010In this dark time and place, you need to be seen so you don’t get run over. I found out about reflective thread from LisaMaarit’s blog, and finally last night sat down to experiment a little. I’m very excited, there’s no end in what you could do with this.
