Put a ring on it

I made this dress last summer and used it a bit but never really like it, despite the colors and despite it being linen. It somehow felt too clumsy.

I decided  a reason could be that the waist is too low to be high and too high to be low, so I figured a belt would pull the waistline further down. Worth a try.

I had to buy the belt buckle, was aiming for a white one for a sixtie’s touch, but couldn’t find one. This red one which-isn’t-the-same-color-but-close-enough worked fine I think.

We’ll see if I like it better now. My expression isn’t too promising I’d say, but I’ve worn it. Seeing the pictures I’m thinnking naybe i should shorten the skirt as well.

  1. I like it. The two colours together are great. I think the belt is good. It might be better if the skirt were shorter than the bodice? Easy enough to pin it up and check it out? I hope you find a way to make it wearable for you because it is pretty darned smashing.

    • Thank you! Yes I think it will have to be shorter. The long front and the belt make me feel a bit like a medieval knight:) But can I find the energy to do it?

      • Lol, pin the dam thing up and see if you like it. If you do, you’ll find the energy. At least that’s how it works for me. Anticipation of something nice is a great motivator for me.

  2. I think this is great – especially with the belt! Now trying to see if I can find a copy of Burda 8754 ….

  3. If the belt was made from the red fabric, it would make the skirt appear to be shorter and this might solve your dilemma.

    • Good point! There wasn’t enough red left over. My first plan was to make the belt red and find a white buckle, just because I thought it would look nicer,, but well… Think I might shorten the skirt as well, will see if I can be bothered.

  4. Va? Måste vara den heta sommaren! Jag som väntat på inlägg från dej!! Hur missade jag detta??? Hur som helst tycker jag klänningen är superfin, men kanske det röda partiet tar över över det gröna? Kanske kan du göra något där?
