Mittens

I’m really a fan of these reflective thread yarns from Järbo. I’ve been doing a lot of knitting lately so decided to go back to crochet for a while. This, I hope, will be a pair of mittens. The first one is always fun to figure out, but then I have to make a second one like it and remember how I did it. At the moment I’m confident, though.

Christmas is coming

20161018_182127So I thought I’d try to start in time this year. I found this multicolored yarn and immediately thought of my eldest son. He loves mint green and lilac. I’ve crocheted a cap, mostly on freehand, although I checked a few patterns to see how they’d made the brim.

The yarn is Järbo Raggi (I think- can’t find the tag) and it’s mostly wool. I especially like that the coloring is uneven, so that there’s stripes blended into the multicolored parts.

C is for collar

20160731_203226.jpgI was experimenting with crochet techniques, but how to use them? Maybe a collar, then all I’ll have to do is make a sweater to put them on.

Drops

Waffles

20160711_111052I just recently learened a new crochet technique, waffle is the the translated word used in swedish.

It’s explained in swedish with pictures here and here

At last I can bring my mother-in -law some new potholders!

I’ve been in bed with the flu for a few days, but today I was at least well enough to crochet.

Glow-in-the-dark hat

Here’s another of the christmas presents I made this year, this one’s crocheted with Järbo’s reflective wool yarn as well.

It’s the same hat in the two pictures, hard to believe, but true. It’ll light up when car lights or, as in this case, a photo flash shines on it.

I had originally thought to make sort of a cap, but the reciever turned it backwards, I changed the brim to a flat rectangle that hangs down in the back to keep the neck warm. He claims to be very happy with it.

The sun is a star, right?

I found some wool yarn with reflective thread in it and made some x-mas presents out of that. This is one of them, a free hand crocheted sun to be sewn onto a jacket or something. When it’s light it looks like regular white yarn, but when it’s dark it shines like a star.
