Fringes or golden blouse part II

Well I washed the blouse as suggested by Felicia and you’ll be glad to know the water stains disappeared. Yay! So did most of the shiny finish, but I was sort of expecting that to happen.

What I didn’t expect was that the edges I hadn’t zig-zaged practically disintegrated. We’re talking a gentle hand wash in the basin here.

I’ll have to re-sew the collar and I’ll carefully zig-zag every edge. But I will not be defeated. I WILL wear this blouse.

Water damage

20170325_182845I cut a blouse from a vintage pattern I’ve wanted to use for some time now, but always hesitated because really, those waists! I never had a waist like that and I certainly don’t know. Of course they’re meant to be worn with a corset but still.  I figured if I ignored the fitting folds in the back it might actually work.

Because the one side is really shiny, I thougyt it best to check if it would work to spray water on when ironing the seams and it was fine. I ‘m quite often good and irons every seam as I make it, but this time I was lazy and sew several before pressing. After i finished I realized that splashing water on it actually wan’t ok, it had gotten water stained. I’m assuming this is a cotton, it doesn’t feel like silk and it’s one of the fabrics my sister brought me from India so there is a limited supply.

Yes I know fabrics should always be washed behore using.

I can’t decide now if I should make a new one or proceed with the this one and hope the stains don’t show much.

Top of the pops

Foto-1185So  i finally got my act together and sew the parts of my crochet top together. i had put it off because I didn’t think I was going to like it. But I did!

I’ve never followed a crochet pattern before, and although it may not be exactly as in the picture,  well, I’m happyFoto-1111

La vie est trop courte pour s’habiller triste

ImageWearing the blouse and the shorts together makes me feel like I’m in a french movie from the sixties. My eldest son got a bit worried at first, but was relieved to find out it was a two-piece and not a jump suit.

The collar is a scrap piece from this skirt, so i figured they would go well togetherImage

Ideas

ImageThe blouse to match my shorts is nearly finished, and it’ll be a great outfit for dancing Lindy Hop I think. In my head is already  stirring ideas for my next projects. There’s the Charleston dress, and also some pants from purple velvet and a dress from the beautiful floral print my sister brought back from ZanzibarImage
