20160801_174748.jpgFor some reason I’ve had the idea that embroidering from a pattern is boring and unsatisfying. As it happens, I ‘d ran out of ideas and wanted something easy to do, so I thought I’d try this cute vintage pattern I’d found in a thrift shop, and bought mainly for the yarn.

Was I wrong! It’s really challenging, maninly because it’s so hard to keep track of the threads in the fabric, I keep making mistakes and taking up stitches. And it’s SLOW.

All my respect to those of you who do this a lot!

Have no idea how long this will take to finish.

I made this for my sister on her birthday. It’s a pillowcase with printed cross stitches in grey and white, on this I embroidered the text in pink that translates to “I’m always on your side”

I like how it makes me think of the old fashioned embroidered wall decorations with encouraging text that were still quite common in Sweden when I grew up.

Cross eyed

I’ve felt an urge to do embroidery for quite a while. Last summer I found this pillow case with a cross-stitch print on it and started to fill in some of the crosses, Foto-1939I hope to finish that one soon:) When I tried to do the same on plain pillow cases the woven threads were WAY to thin for me to see so I gave up. This blog really got me inspired, though and now I’ve found this really coarse linen and I’ll be damned if I can’t see these threads enough to make something out of it.Foto-1940

I also got me some reading glasses.
