Well I’m doing some more embroidery. These won’t be lavender sachets, I don’t think. But I did give away a good many of those.

This is just for pleasure. I’m using an old cushion cover of linen that I bought second hand for the sachets. Since the yarn is second hand as well I don’t really know what it is, doesn’t feel or act like silk, and to be honest I didn’t like the colors either, but was surprised how good it came out. Thinking I might make a breast fin as an appliqué, but not sure how to yet.

This one is made with regular cotton yarn. I like the sixties feel of the color comination. Needs a face, or at least an eye, though.

Sometimes I feel a bit mad when I save scraps from what I’m sewing. But I loved this color so much! It’s the leftovers from the pants I made from curtains (here although I haven’t got a photo yet of the finished pants:P)
I wanted to do embroidery and at first thought I’d make a pocket for the pants, that’s the one to the right. From the even smaller scraps I made two little bags to fill with lavender since I have some on my balcony.

For some reason I’ve had the idea that embroidering from a pattern is boring and unsatisfying. As it happens, I ‘d ran out of ideas and wanted something easy to do, so I thought I’d try this cute vintage pattern I’d found in a thrift shop, and bought mainly for the yarn.
Was I wrong! It’s really challenging, maninly because it’s so hard to keep track of the threads in the fabric, I keep making mistakes and taking up stitches. And it’s SLOW.
All my respect to those of you who do this a lot!
Have no idea how long this will take to finish.
Composition: Greta Hammarquist

I’ve been thinking of what to do with my embroidered faces. In the end i decided to just put them in a frame. There is something in the composition I don’t like, but I’ll put them on a wall and see if I can figure out how to rearrange them. Or maybe I will like it after a while.
The fabric I’ve emboidered on is a thrift shop find. I suppose someone made a chair seat and cut a cirkel out of it, because there were four corners left. I like the rounded line and wanted the coarse feeling of the fabric to be visible. This way, the shape of the fabric parts is a picture in itself.

One of my nieces wanted words of wisdom to put on her wall, for Christmas
Since we’re both dancers I wanted something dance related and decided to use this great quote. Don’t know who said it, but I read it as a recomendation to see whatever happens to you as part of your life, and rather than cursing your mistakes, to build something new and unexpected from them.
Also I dislike perfection, in art (as in life in general) I want improvisation and evolution, which this quote encourages.
I choose tou use the word “when” instead of “if” because accidents will happen to all of us, better be prepared.
The design is mine, and I ‘m particularly fond of the E connectiong the two words stumble and dance. I used cross stitches for the black letters, and back stitch as well as basting stitches for the red and green.

Hm. That reflective thread really isn’t very easy to do embroidery with. This is an attempt for a Doctor Who phone both that I’ve crocheted. The plan was to make the windows in reflective thread, so the receiver can hang it from their bag and be seen in the dark. But as you can see its all messy. The thread is coarse and gets stuck in the yarn. I’ll head into town to see if I can find either thinner thread, or thread mixed with yarn.

In this dark time and place, you need to be seen so you don’t get run over. I found out about reflective thread from LisaMaarit’s blog, and finally last night sat down to experiment a little. I’m very excited, there’s no end in what you could do with this.
